Dear Karin and colleagues!

I am Johann Nikadimus.
Let me tell you briefly about my artworks
I embroider gala/wedding tiaras in ancient techniques gold embroidery and pearl embroidery. I create all tiara designs myself, it is important for me to preserve the ancient technology in a new elegant fashion design.

Some examples of my tiaras
Throughout human history, we have used ritual clothing and accessories. Nowadays, gala and wedding fashion perform the same function - they are objects for special occasions that open the doors to a new reality between Before and After.

That is why all my collections are called KEY
In exhibition projects I use mirror tables to enhance the magical impression of my works. I collaborate with fashion designers to expand the matrix of the collection with dresses, necklaces, earrings of authors similar to me.
For the last exhibition a special soundtrack of three tracks was created. The tracks sound from different corners of the pavilion simultaneously - so at each point of space you are immersed in a new theme, and in the center of the pavilion you can hear a full musical whirlwind.

We can use this soundtrack for our joint projects

Since ancient times, pearls have been considered a precious stone. They were attributed magical properties, they were considered a symbol of purity, wisdom and the mystery of the universe. Pearls were also very expensive jewelry. This is the only natural stone of a round shape, people learned to make round beads from other materials to imitate pearls.

Throughout human history until the first half of the 19th century, pearls were mined in the waters of modern Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Arab Emirates. And along trade routes they were supplied to the markets of Russia, Europe and China.

Pearls were not only used to make necklaces. They were sewn onto clothes, headdresses, religious attributes, and used to decorate dishes and other household items of noble people.
The technology of pearl embroidery is quite simple but labor-intensive.

The canvas is stretched tightly on the frame, the pattern for embroidery is applied to the canvas. I sew a cotton cord on the pattern and sew pearl threads on top - each pearl separately, decorate with gold embroidery. When the embroidery is ready, then on the edged side I glue several layers of fabric with collagen glue according to an old recipe. And at the end I tear out with a thin knife. I sew on ribbons, inlay pearl beads on top.

And the tiara is ready
I am from Russia, based in Serbia for the last three years. I started my career 10 years ago without any formal education, with personal research into traditional headdresses and their technologies. To develop as an artist, I left my job in retail. Over the course of 10 years, I have conducted numerous interviews, collaborations with fashion photographers, exhibitions and workshops.

  • A small list of my exhibitions and interviews is on my page here.
  • Since 2020, I have been a member of the Homo Fiber Guide of the Swiss Michelangelo Foundation, link to the Guide.
  • In 2021, I participated in the Cartier exhibition as an invited guest and demonstrated my skills to special clients of the House of Cartier.
Now I continue my work, try to increase the market and expand production, and also look for partners to gradually grow from a master into a full-fledged fashion brand. And I am very glad that the opportunity to cooperate with you has appeared!

Thank you for your interest!
J.
